Too many Chavs

I went to Gravesend yesterday, it was the perfect set up for working on the Chavs song! Lots of turquoise tracksuits, smoking mums with young kids and terrible haircuts!
It's been a while since we've done music what with holidays to Bruges and the Ashes...
So anyway we got down to business and recorded some cracking vocals and trombones (fake you know)

Anyway more soon

Music Saturday

Ben came round still took him 2 hours mind, the joy of the M25!
We worked on Chavs most of the day adding some crazy noises to the track and thinking about lyrics all needs to be done. It's getting there....

BOND!

What a night, we were all up for it and recorded about eight takes. And I think we have the one! I think we know we are on to a winner with this song.

Music making in Gravesend

I visited Ben in Gravesend, traffic horriblus though to get there 2hrs 20mins, you gotta be kidding me!
Ben is in the process of building a new computer so after finding the space on his old one we got to work at 3.30pm. Terrible!
However after making some quick decisions we eq'd and mixed Chavs. It's sounding PDG.
Then we went for a beer for his birthday!
Nice

Things didnt go as planned

Well after much hype and excitement, things didn't go as planned last night. A big curry followed by lack of preparation means we just weren't ready to record.
Next time ... next time

Big night tonight

Excitement is gripping The Mortimer camp, tonight is the night we record perhaps our best song yet. We refer to it as Bond as it's inspired by listening to the James Bond CD, some fab tunes on there I can tell you. The working title is probably 'Silencer' but we'll see.

So tonight at 8.30pm think of four sweaty boys, probably not that sweaty as it's freezing in Ben's basement, working on the new tune.

Adios

PS Last night I chose my lead vocals for the rocky song 'It's About Time' aka Beautiful Diamond

Classic Music Making

At last normal service is resumed after summer holidays, floor laying and all that jazz.

Ben came over to mine and we quickly decided we needed some lunch from Tesco! But that walk cleared our heads and we knew what we had to work on. The song It's About Time aka Life's too short aka Beautiful Diamond needed some attention so I did the lead vocal, it nearly killed me! Very prolonged high notes and delivered with some force I can tell you.
After that I was worn out so we worked on the bongos and recorded some piano and organ.

The song Chavs also got a bit of attention by choosing the Rhodes sound for Marco.

Nice

After that we had a nice dinner of sausages mmmm. Mortimer's working day was over for another week.
